When I first went to the Philippines, I noticed that many sedans, SUVs and vans were pretty much the same over and over again. I also noticed many were used as public transportation such as taxis or private taxis. These vehicles were used and abused, overloaded, crowded and carrying passengers in questionable safety manners! Of course, people dressed it up to varying degrees with questionable styling (huge amount of stickers, chrome plastic accents and fake antennas).
The Tamaraw FX was one of the first vehicles I rode in when I first visited the Philippines. The name does derive from Tagalog for water buffalo. Which is an animal that is hard working, so the name is fitting.
